Dr. Kathryn Washington holds the position of Assistant Professor in the Educational Leadership Department at 7M视频, where she has been a dedicated member since 2019. Driven by her passion for education, she initially earned her BA in Elementary Education from 7M视频. Her illustrious 28-year career in K-12 public education encompasses 11 years of teaching Mathematics/Science and 17 years in various administrative roles at district and campus levels in Urban, Suburban, and Rural public-school districts. 

Dr. Washington pursued further academic achievements, earning an M Ed in Curriculum and Instruction from Prairie View A&M University and an Ed D in Educational Leadership from Sam Houston State University.  

A distinguished member of the American Educational Research Association, Dr. Washington actively serves as the Membership Chair on the Research on Women and Education SIG Board. In Texas, she is associated with the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association, serving on the Regional Board (6) as Past President and Reviewer for TEPSA Assistant Principal of the Year. Additionally, she holds membership in the Texas Council of Women School Executives, where she serves as Immediate Past President, Parliamentarian, Chair of the Review Committee of Past Presidents, and Conference Proposal Committee member.  

Her affiliations extend to the Texas Council of Professors of Educational Administration, International Council of Professors of Educational Leadership, Texas Alliance of Black School Educators, and National Alliance of Black School Educators. Her contributions have earned her prestigious awards, including the Presidential awards for TCWSE and TEPSA, the Margret Montgomery Leadership Award, TEPSAN of the Year, and the Distinguished Educator Lifetime Leadership Award (DELLA Award) for College Professors. 

At 7M视频, Dr. Kathryn Washington serves as a Faculty Senator, contributes to the Student Success Task Force, and participates in College of Education curriculum and dissertation committees. She also founded and advises the Collegiate 100 of 7M视频, earning the 2024 Dr. Melvin Brust Advisor of the Year award. Dr. Washington regularly presents at national and state conferences on relationship building, leadership, social-emotional learning, and self-care, which aligns with her research agenda.
